Zoometrics suite

The other tools in the Zoometrics suite seen from Ark Metrics, citizen participation that takes an animal from the street to adoption: what each one does and how they complement each other.

Ark Metrics is part of the Zoometrics suite, the set of tools municipalities use to manage coexistence between people, animals and plants. Ark is the participation side: for those who capture, foster, adopt, donate or give their time, and for the local governments and associations that coordinate them.

This page describes the other tools from that point of view. With Meow Metrics, the closest one, Ark shares the platform, the data and the user identity. With the rest it shares, above all, the same local government and the same neighbours: Census Metrics begins where an adoption ends, Wild Metrics looks after wild animals and Silva Metrics cares for the green spaces where all of this happens. For each one we explain what it does and how it complements the work done in Ark.

  • Meow Metrics (opens in a new tab)

Meow Metrics is the tool for the technical side of cat colony work: where the colonies are, how many cats live in them, which interventions are carried out and with what means, following the TNR method in line with Spanish Law 7/2023. It is Ark Metrics' closest sibling: both run on one platform, with a single database and a single user identity, so each person signs in with the same account and holds the role that fits each application. Anyone already using Ark does not start from scratch in Meow Metrics, and the other way round.

How it works with Ark Metrics

Colony cats, collaborators, donations, reports and capture and foster requests are the same records in both tools, so nothing is entered twice. Meow Metrics centralises the full management of fostering (matching, contract and follow-up), while Ark provides the front door for citizens and volunteers.

  • Census Metrics (opens in a new tab)

Census Metrics looks after animals that already have a family: the municipal register of companion animals, mostly dogs and cats, with registration, a digital pet card and microchip identification. Ark Metrics follows the opposite journey, that of animals leaving the street and looking for a home. An animal that ends up adopted eventually becomes a registered animal, and that continuity is what ties the work of associations to the work of the local government.

How it works with Ark Metrics

Ark accompanies the animal until it finds a family; Census starts when that family wants to register it and keep its paperwork up to date. They are two moments in one story, designed for the same local government and its partner organisations, and each tool is used separately according to the moment.

  • Wild Metrics (opens in a new tab)

Wild Metrics focuses on animals that belong to no one and share the city, starting with wild boar. Neighbourhood reports, device detections and municipal service actions are seen on a single map and turned into alerts so that action can come before an incident. If Ark gives citizens a simple way to help domestic and stray animals, Wild gives them another to report wild ones, built on the same idea that a phone report, with nothing to install, improves the response.

How it works with Ark Metrics

Both tools start from the fact that neighbours see what happens in the street before anyone else, and both offer a report reviewed by an authorised person. They differ in their subject: Ark deals with animals that need capture, fostering or adoption; Wild with wild animals whose encounters must be prevented. A local government can run both areas, each with its own channel.

  • Silva Metrics (opens in a new tab)

Silva Metrics is the living inventory of the parks and gardens of a town or city: each green space with its plants, furniture and materials, from benches and fountains to playgrounds or dog areas, with a technical side and a public one reached by QR code. It is the tool for those who look after the places where people stroll, play and gather. For anyone working with Ark, those places are the everyday setting of coexistence: events are held there, people go with their pets and adoption posters turn up.

How it works with Ark Metrics

The relationship is one of use, not of systems: the same local government usually has one person looking after green spaces and another coordinating with associations. Knowing what each area contains, a dog area for example, helps decide where to hold an adoption day or place an information point.

The company and the full suite

Zoometrics (opens in a new tab)

Zoometrics is the platform and the company behind Ark Metrics and the rest of the suite. It starts from a One Health vision: coexistence between people, animals and plants in a municipality is better managed with data than with guesswork, and each tool covers one part of that coexistence. Ark is the one that brings citizens, associations and local governments together around animals that need help; the Zoometrics website explains the scientific approach, who makes up the team and how all the pieces fit.

How it works with Ark Metrics

Ark is the citizen participation piece of the suite: the one that opens the door to volunteering and donations. Zoometrics provides the common framework and the link to the other tools.
