Ark Metrics: citizen participation and traceability

Citizen participation tool with full traceability from the street to adoption (captures, fostering, adoptions, donations, volunteering) that shares data and identity with Meow Metrics.

What it is

Ark Metrics is a citizen participation tool with full traceability from the street to adoption (captures, fostering, adoptions, donations, volunteering) that shares data and identity with Meow Metrics.

Meow Metrics handles the technical side of feline colonies; Ark Metrics deals with the people and groups surrounding a municipality’s animals: whoever finds them, whoever rescues them, whoever fosters them, whoever adopts or donates. Everything is kept in the same system and used from the browser, with nothing to install.

Why it is called Ark Metrics

Like Noah’s ark, Ark is a refuge that saves and brings together those who need it: here, a municipality’s animals and the people who rescue, foster and adopt them. Metrics is the other half of the name: what is rescued is recorded, coordinated and measured, so that no animal gets lost along the way between the street and a home. In one sentence, Ark Metrics is a municipality’s digital ark.

Who it is for

  • Local governments: a single place to see reports, animals, collaborators and statistics.
  • Associations and animal protection groups: they coordinate volunteers, rescues, fostering and adoptions on the same data as the local government.
  • Volunteers: people who rescue or foster animals and see the requests that concern them.
  • Collaborating shops and clinics: they keep their own page and their offers up to date.
  • Citizens: they can browse adoptions, report an incident and donate without creating an account.

The problem it solves

Helping the animals of a municipality takes many hands: whoever finds the animal, volunteers, foster homes, shelters, clinics, those who adopt and those who donate. If each keeps its own list, the journey of an animal from the street to adoption gets lost along the way.

And behind all of them stands the local government: collecting abandoned or lost animals from public roads is generally a municipal responsibility, under state and regional animal protection rules. It is the local government that receives the reports and has to respond, often relying on associations and volunteers who work on their own.

Ark Metrics records the journey once: citizens report, volunteers and associations act, the local government coordinates, and each sees their own part without repeating data.

What it can do

For citizens

Citizen reports

Anyone can report an animal in need without creating an account. The local government receives the report organised and reviewed.

Adoptions

A public catalogue to meet the animals looking for a home. Finding the right companion is one click away.

Donations

Each person or organisation has their own page to receive support. Easy to share, easy to understand.

Entry page

A single public door, in several languages, to report and to adopt. It is the only link that needs to be shared from the municipal website.

To coordinate volunteers

Captures

Whoever finds an animal to rescue reaches the nearest prepared volunteers. The rescue is coordinated without chains of messages.

Foster homes

Each animal that needs a temporary home finds the homes that suit it. A clear agreement protects both sides.

Capturer profile

Each volunteer says what equipment they have and where they can help from. So the local government knows who it can count on before asking for help.

Requests shared with Meow Metrics

Captures and fostering travel between the two tools without repeating data. A request is offered, answered, and it is on record who did what.

Points and ranking

Volunteers’ effort is recognised through recorded facts. A simple way to say thank you and keep motivation up.

To know the territory

Local collaborators

A living directory of the shops, clinics and organisations that support the municipality. Each collaborator keeps their own page.

Shelters

A map of nearby shelters with their occupancy and what they offer. Fewer phone calls to find out whether there is room.

Animal register

A register of the municipality’s animals, of several species and not only cats. Each record tells where the animal is and how it got there.

Maps and search by proximity

Everything that matters, ordered by what is closest to you. Rescues, shelters and animals up for adoption, at just the right distance.

ArcGIS integration

If the local government already uses a mapping viewer, the information reaches its maps. No duplicated work.

For the municipal team

Report statistics

How many reports arrive and how much work they mean, with charts ready for an annual report. Data to decide and to justify.

Permissions and change log

Everyone does their own part and everything is on record. Order and trust within the team.

Working scope and account

One account to work with the local government and with associations. Each scope, one click away.

Guides, help and support

Help at hand on the screen itself, and support when needed. So that nobody gets stuck.

Tools directory

Public links ready to copy and share. Everything to be shared, in one place.

Languages, mobile and accessibility

Designed so that anyone can use it, on any screen and in many languages. Accessible with a keyboard and screen readers.

Search visibility

A light public site that is easy to find. So that whoever is looking for help for an animal reaches it.

How it fits into the Zoometrics suite

Ark Metrics is part of the Zoometrics suite, alongside Meow Metrics. The two tools share a database and a user identity: the same account can hold one role in one and a different role in the other, and common records are written only once. The full suite is at zoo-metrics.com.

Frequently asked questions

What is Ark Metrics?

It is a citizen participation tool with full traceability from the street to adoption (captures, fostering, adoptions, donations, volunteering) that shares data and identity with Meow Metrics. It runs in the browser, with nothing to install.

Why is it called Ark Metrics?

Like Noah's ark, it is a refuge that saves and brings together those who need it: here, a municipality's animals and the people who rescue, foster and adopt them. Metrics is the other half of the name: what is rescued is recorded, coordinated and measured.

Who is it for?

For local governments, associations and animal protection groups, volunteers who rescue or foster animals, and the shops and clinics that collaborate. Citizens can also report an incident, see animals up for adoption and donate without creating an account.

What is the difference between Ark Metrics and Meow Metrics?

Meow Metrics is for the technical work with feline colonies; Ark Metrics is for coordinating the people and groups who look after a municipality's animals. They share data and user account, so whatever is recorded in one is visible in the other.

Which animals can be registered?

Animals of several species, not only cats: dogs, ferrets, rabbits, rodents, birds, fish and reptiles.

Do citizens need an account to report an incident?

No. The public side is used without registration or a password, and an authorised person reviews each report before it goes any further.

How do donations work?

Each person or organisation can have a public donation page, shared with a link, a QR code or a poster. Payment is handled by whichever external platform each one chooses.

Which languages does it support?

The staff area comes in 11 languages, including the languages of Spain, English, French, German, Arabic and Korean. Italian is added on the public side, making 12.

Can it be connected to the municipal mapping viewer?

If the local government already uses ArcGIS, yes: it is enabled one city at a time.

How can I find out more?

Write to us from the contact page or at info@zoo-metrics.com and tell us what your local government, association or shelter needs. We will get in touch with you.
