Ark Metrics for volunteers
How volunteers use Ark Metrics: rescue requests ordered by proximity, a profile with your equipment, email alerts and recognition through points.
You are here if you rescue animals, foster them or lend a hand in your municipality, and want to know what Ark Metrics offers you. It is the most practical page of all: best read with your phone in hand.
If you capture
When someone finds an injured cat or a frightened dog, the alert circulates through messaging groups and arrives late, incomplete or to someone who cannot respond. Ark Metrics tidies up the path: you see first what is near you and what you need in order to decide.
Requests by proximity. What is closest to you comes first. You choose what you can take on.
Everything in the request. Place, urgency and equipment, clear from the start. You decide with information, not blindly.
Prior legal requirements. Each request arrives with the essentials checked. Nobody accepts blindly.
Your capturer profile. You say where you set out from and what equipment you have. That way the requests that suit you reach you.
Proposals and replies. You accept, decline or withdraw, and everything is noted. No misunderstandings about whose turn it was.
If you foster
Your own filters. You only see the fostering that fits your home. You set the conditions.
Compatibility details. You know what the animal is like before deciding. Fewer surprises for everyone.
Fostering agreement. A clear, downloadable agreement for both sides. Peace of mind from day one.
Alert email. It reaches you when a capture or fostering is offered to you. You find out in time.
Your page and your recognition
Your own donations page. You say what you do and why you need support, and you decide what is shown. A link, a QR code or a poster to share it.
Points and ranking. Your effort counts, and it shows. A thank-you based on recorded facts.
One outing, step by step
- You open Ark Metrics on your phone.
- You look at what is near you and choose.
- After the capture, it is confirmed and closed.
- If you foster, you sign the agreement and download the PDF.
Everyday situations
- Someone finds a litter on a vacant lot. The person reporting explains; you see the request nearby and decide.
- An animal needs a few days of fostering. You see what it needs and reply if it fits your home.
- You take part in a group that shares out tasks. It is on record who accepted each proposal.
One system, no repeated data
Your account works for Ark Metrics and Meow Metrics, with different roles in each if needed. What you record is not typed twice. You can read how each organisation sees it on the pages for local governments and associations and shelters.
How it fits in the Zoometrics suite
Ark is the participation part of the Zoometrics suite. If you help in your municipality, you may come across:
- Meow Metrics, where the technical work with cat colonies is kept, using the same account you use here.
- Census Metrics, the companion animal census where adopted animals are registered.
- Wild Metrics, for wildlife reports, which are neither captures nor adoptions.
- Silva Metrics, the inventory of parks and gardens.
Next step
If you are looking for a home for an animal or want to adopt, see the page on fostering and adoption, or go back to the home page. If you want to bring in your volunteer group, write to us and tell us how you work.
Frequently asked questions
Do I see every request in the municipality?
You see the open ones, ordered by closeness to your starting point, and you can narrow them down to what interests you.
Can I turn down a proposal?
Yes. Whoever is offered a capture or a fostering accepts or declines it, and can withdraw before starting.
What personal data of mine is visible in public?
Only what you choose to show on your donations page.
What are points for?
They recognise the captures, fostering and reports you carry out, with a total per person and a general ranking.
Can I volunteer with more than one organisation?

Do I need to install an app?
No. It is used from the browser on your phone or computer.
